Practice

MBW's practice is based on five principles (PAWPE):

PRACTICE-BASED: It is not founded on beliefs (religious, philosophical, customary, historical, etc.), but on actual practice, and the inquiry and questioning that follows from such practice.

ACCESSIBLE: directed towards the general public, regardless of education or class, entirely in the English language, in contemporary 'Western' (or 'Westernised') culture. And, not for sale.

WELL-FOUNDED: Founded in the classical teachings of the Buddha, as near as we can reach them (especially the Pali Canon) and put into ordinary English and taking account of 'Western' cultural assumptions.

PARTICIPATORY: It aspires to build participatory communities of practitioners, without formal hierarchy and authorities.

ENGAGED: It unifies ethics, meditation and understanding, and does not split off 'meditation' on its own as a mere technique. This is about our human lives together.
