GUILDFORD

The Quiet Centre is part of the University of Surrey, and is open to invited visitors.

Train

Trains run to 'Guildford' main station, which is very close to the university campus. (Do not go to 'London Road Guildford' station.) If you arrive by train, then leave the station from the rear exit (not from the main/front exit), turn right up the hill, walk about 300 yards, turn right at sign that says 'University Through Car Park', walk through the car park towards a large aluminium ship-shaped building on the campus, and then walk through campus towards the University Library, then towards Battersea Court, Cathedral Court and Guildford Court and then ask for 'The Quiet Centre'.

By Car

Most visitors will not need to drive through Guildford city centre. The University (and its Quiet Centre) are close to the A3. For example, coming from North of Guildford:

Drive south down A3; do not turn off into Guildford centre; but keeping going 'around' Guildford until...; you enter a 50 mph zone (there is only one such zone); passing huge impressive office buildings on your left; then the A3 bears left, with a slip road joining it from the left, and the traffic slows; then watch out very carefully for exit slip road as you pass over a rail bridge (not obviously a bridge); turn into this slip road, that is signposted 'Cathedral/Research Park'; taking you onto a large round-about (Cathedral gyratory); take first left exit from roundabout, at silver sign 'University of Surrey'; enter campus, past security box and mini-roundabout and left into Visitors’ Car Park (free on Sundays).

After parking in Car Park 1, cross the road, and walk through road barrier opposite;
walk about 200 yards, with glass/aluminium buildings on either side; turn (second) right up hill towards 'Cathedral Court'; walk about 100 yards; the Quiet Centre is the small round building set in the lawn (behind the building that is in front of you). If lost, ask someone first for Cathedral Court (students' residence) and then for Quiet Centre.

The Cathedral shares a 'leaky' boundary with the university campus. Some people have been known to park in the Cathedral car park and walk the short distance to the Quiet Centre (see map).
